2014 IDSA Medical Design Conference, The Usability Ecosystem

HERNDON, VA, USA — The inaugural IDSA Medical Design Conference, The Usability Ecosystem, chaired by Sean Hägen, principal of BlackHägen Design, is being held at the Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS), a state-of-the-art virtual hospital and simulation center in, November 6-8, 2014 in Tampa, FL.

The healthcare space provides a unique repository of problems and opportunities for research, design, and development. This conference will approach design in the healthcare domain within the realm of usability — ranging from the evolving relationship between industrial design and human factors engineering, to enabling the healthcare culture to migrate from treating illness to enabling wellness.

The conference will be balanced between two primary tracks: discussions on why and what design can do to affect usability and in situ workshops on how usability design can be effective. The third day of the conference is optional and will be an Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) regulatory training course on usability design.
